|China||NO MAINLAND CHINESE FOR WORLD YOUTH DAY|
Some 900 Chinese youth from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan will participate in World Youth Day events at the Vatican and in Rome, but there is no official delegation from mainland China.
"We have not organised any formal delegation to Rome so far," Anthony Liu Bainian, vice chairman of the Government-approved Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association (CCPA), told UCA News in response to reports that young mainland Chinese would take part in this month's celebration.
"So far we have not received any formal invitation, which is required to obtain visas. Besides, the cost is also a problem," he explained. Bainian said he suspects the reports might be referring to mainland Chinese youth who are now in Europe or other countries. UCAN
