Olympics    ST MARY'S TO WELCOME VISITORS TO SYDNEY
The Catholic Church in Sydney is to welcome Olympic visitors to Sydney at a special Mass to be held at St Mary's Cathedral on Friday 8 September.
The Catholic Weekly reports that 31 Catholic ethnic communities will be represented with their national costumes and flags at the liturgy, which will begin at 7:30 pm.
Representatives from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities will lead the procession of nations, which will include representatives from Asia, the Pacific, Europe, Latin America and Africa.
51 chaplains from across Sydney, who minister to the ethnic communities on a regular basis, have been invited to the cathedral for the multicultural Mass liturgy, which will feature prayers of the faithful in several different languages.
