|Netherlands||COURT REJECTS LEGAL ACTION AGAINST POPE|
Dutch authorities said on Tuesday they will not pursue a complaint against Pope John Paul II filed by a group of gay activists last week.|
An organised group of readers of the Dutch gay magazine Gay Krant filed the complaint in court last week after the Holy Father declared that a Rome homosexual event was an "offence to Christian values."
The Dutch public prosecutor decided not to press charges because of the Pope's status as head of the Catholic Church, head of the Vatican state, and highest representative of the Holy See. This position gave him global immunity from jurisdiction, the court said in a statement.
