Italy    POPE GOES ON OUTING DESPITE COLD AND WIND
Wednesday morning's cold wind did not dissuade John Paul II from going on his planned excursion in the Italian Alps, where he is spending his summer vacation.
The Pontiff left the house where he is staying at 10:30 a.m. for an unknown destination, in order to benefit fully from the peace and quiet of the area.
On Tuesday, the Pope returned from his first Alpine outing at 4:30 p.m., earlier than expected, because of the poor weather. Later in the afternoon, he enjoyed the spectacular view of Mont Blanc from the bay window in his house, and talked to friends and collaborators who are accompanying him during these holidays.
