|Melbourne||NEW MERCY HOSPITAL FOR CITY'S SOUTH-EAST|
The Victorian Government yesterday announced that Mercy Health and Aged Care has been selected to build, own and operate the new 219 bed community hospital in Berwick, located in Melbourne's outer South East area.|
The announcement follows negotiations between the Victorian Department of Human Services and Mercy Health and Aged Care to provide increased health care facilities to the high growth areas of Berwick, Cranbourne and Upper Beaconsfield.
Construction of the new community hospital to be located at Berwick's Kangan Drive, is expected to commence later this year. Of the 219 beds to be made available, 162 beds will be allocated for public patients with a 57 bed private hospital facility.
The Mercy Hospital Berwick will care for public and private patients and will provide a wider range of services, expanded opportunities for specialist treatment and the expert skills and back up of other Mercy Health and Aged Care organisations.
