Solomon Islands    MILITIA SEIZES PRIEST
A Catholic priest is reportedly being held captive by militants in Solomon Islands.
The ABC reports that the Church has broadcast an appeal on national radio for the release of Fr Augustine Gevay.
Archbishop Adrian Smith says he has been told Fr Gevay was taken captive near Morau in eastern Guadalcanal and is being held on a nearby island.
It is not clear which of the two Solomons Islands militias is involved.
Meanwhile, government delegation will today attempt to secure the participation of Isatabu Freedom Movement commanders in peace talks that could begin on Thursday. The Malaita Eagle Force says it will only attend if all elements of the Isatabu leadership participate.
