|Zimbabwe||ARCHBISHOP ON MUGABE'S HIT-LIST|
After repeatedly criticising President Robert Mugabe's "violent excesses", the Catholic Archbishop of Bulawayo has been warned that Zimbabwe's intelligence organisation has put him on a death list.|
Archbishop Pius Ncube has become the Church's most prominent critic of Mr Mugabe. During the election campaign, he condemned the "constant campaign of violence and intimidation" mounted by the ruling Zanu-PF, which claimed 37 lives.".
Now his friends fear that he may be a target for retribution following the strong showing of the opposition in last week's parliamentary poll.
The Archbishop said: "They are trying to blame me for the election result. I criticised the violence and the invasion of farms, which are illegal. I had to speak out because the faithful urged me to. I knew it was risky, but it had to be done."
