Vatican     BELO TELLS DOCTORS TO TREAT ALL PATIENTS EQUALLY
East Timor's Bishop Carlos Belo has told the Jubilee convention of doctors in Rome that they must take account of the person's humanity, and not his or her origins or social class.
    The five-day meeting began yesterday.
    Belo told the doctors that a new conception of respect for individual and social dignity is needed.
    "Respecting the social human and individual dignity, we are working to create a public health system which is sound, harmonious, progressive, mature and balanced," he said.
    In his lecture on the theme "Human Rights and Health", Belo asserted that if the ethical norms of the medical profession are observed, they constitute the complete framework for the defence and the protection of human".
