|NEW DIRECTOR FOR CARITAS AUSTRALIA|
The Australian Catholic Bishops' Conference has appointed Mr Jack de Groot National Director of Caritas Australia, the Church's agency for overseas aid and development.
De Groot, 34, is currently Coordinator of Faith Integration and Formation at Perth's Catholic Education Office. He was the founding Executive Officer of the Melbourne Archdiocese's Catholic Commission for Justice, Development and Peace from 1993 to 1997.
Caritas Australia Chairman, Bishop Hilton Deakin said: "Mr de Groot will provide strong and collaborative leadership, and his commitment to social justice and to the work of Caritas Australia will have a positive impact on our work both at home and abroad."
Mr de Groot replaces Mr Tom Story, who retired in March this year after four years of service as National Director.
