UK    ARCHBISHOP BREAKS SILENCE OVER FALSE ALLEGATIONS OF CHILD ABUSE
Archbishop John Ward of Cardiff in Wales has commended the Christian Brothers for forgiving all the people who had falsely accused them of sexual and physical abuse.
In a homily given at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King, Liverpool, in honour of Blessed Edmund Rice, the founder of the Congregation of Christian Brothers of Ireland, the archbishop compared the ordeals of falsely-accused teachers and religious to "the dirt of the Cross" and the "mockery of Calvary".
Archbishop Ward said: "May I close by acknowledging the deep hurt caused to the Brothers in recent times. They have suffered so much of Gethsemane and Calvary. We have shared it with you.
