Vatican     POPE INVITES 200 HOMELESS ROMANS TO DINNER
On 15 June, Pope John Paul II will dine with 200 poor and homeless persons in the atrium of the Vatican General Audience Hall, which is usually reserved for papal dinners with Cardinals, bishops, and Synod participants.
But the event is not unprecedented. Similar events took place in the Jubilees of 1500 and 1600.
The dinner was confirmed on Sunday by Archbishop Crescenzio Sepe, secretary of the Committee of the Great Jubilee of the Year 2000.
In addition, during this Jubilee and at John Paul II's request, dining rooms have been set up near Rome's most important Basilicas, where the poor can enjoy a free hot meal each day.
