El Salvador    ARCHBISHOP SLAMS RULING ON JESUITS' MURDER ENQUIRY
The Archbishop of San Salvador, Bishop Fernando Saenz Lacalle, has criticised the El Salvador Government's ruling that the enquiry into the 1989 murder of six Jesuits and two cleaning women will not be reopened.
The request of reopening the case was made last week by the Rector of the Jesuits University of Central America.
Conceding that the laws in force do not have the power to overturn government amnesty provisions, the archbishop declared: "If justice means equity that means that the laws must be applied to everyone".
The murders took place at the university on the night of November 16th, 1989.
