|Vatican||POPE VOICES SUPPORT FOR REMEMBRANCE OF GYPSY SUFFERING|
Pope John Paul II voiced his support Wednesday for tomorrow's day dedicated to Roma, or Gypsies, who suffered in the Kosovo war.
Speaking at his general audience, the pope said he hoped Saturday's International Day 'helps to promote the full respect of the human dignity of these, our brothers, giving them a proper place in society.'
John Paul appeared in good form before a crowd of some 40,000 people in St. Peter's Square. He had taken a day off Tuesday, his first since returning from a pilgrimage in the Holy Land 10 days ago.
