Papua New Guinea    BISHOPS APPEAL FOR SECURITY
Leaders of 87 religious congregations in PNG have joined forces to protest continued decline of law and order in the country.
In a media statement released last week, the Federation of religious within the Bishops Conference of Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands said: "We raise our voices to express concern about the continuing decline of stable security relating to law and order in our country.
The release, signed by Fr Joachim Rego CP, continued, "Our call is an urgent call to action as we have allowed groups to impinge on our freedom and reduce us of our rights in personal safety and law and order.
"We now find we can no longer serve the people to whom we are called because of this decline in law and order and we must state that it is our belief that it is now time to work together and reclaim the safety we expect in our society.
