CATHOLIC AID AGENCIES NO LONGER CATHOLIC
The President of the Pontifical Council 'Cor Unum' has accused a US Catholic agency, represented in many countries, of working against the interests of the local Churches.
He said: "As Cardinal Puljic confirmed to me in the recent Synod of Bishops for Europe, in Bosnia-Herzegovina, ten of the employees of the agency are Muslims. The activity of these persons would support the Islamic strategy to foster the expulsion of Christians from Bosnia."
Archbishop Cordes, who has been entrusted by the Pope with the task of promoting the work of Catholic charity institutions, told an audience in Florence following his visit to Mozambique that 'faith and ethics cannot be separated in Christianity'.
This kind of mentality, according to Archbishop Cordes, is causing an 'alteration in the objectives of some Catholic Aid institutions which are simply turned into bureaucratic institutions'. In such organisations, there is a tendency to 'reinforce paid personnel', excluding volunteers, and to avoid any 'links with the Church'.
