|Lent||RETURN TO MASS SAYS ARCHBISHOP|
Archbishop John Bathersby has called the people of Brisbane Archdiocese back to Mass and to a fuller understanding of its significance.
He says in his Lenten pastoral message to be released this weekend that Pope John Paul sees the Year of Great Jubilee as a time for the Church to make a fresh start.
Archbishop Bathersby attributed the fact that it is difficult to maintain faith in today's world to the absence of God.
He said: "Let us have a special fidelity in the Mass, the central prayer of the Church and a powerful act of reconciliation in itself."
He described the Mass as possibly "one of the most neglected aspects of our faith today".
"The Mass cannot be separated from life in its reality and it comes as a gift from God in Jesus Christ," he continued.
