Sierra Leone    REBEL ABDUCTIONS MAY HALT AID WORK
If rebel abductions of aid workers and UN peacekeepers in Sierra Leone continue, the Catholic Church's local charitable agency may suspend operations, said a Caritas official.
"If they continue, we have no alternative but to cease operations," John Conteh, monitoring and evaluation officer for Caritas, told Catholic News Service.
He said the frequent abductions have caused Caritas workers to fear venturing into the interior of Sierra Leone, where the agency's projects are based. "We have partners we are working with. If abductions continue, they will cease aiding us," he added.
