Singapore    CHURCH PROTESTS TREATMENT OF FILIPINO DOMESTIC HELPERS
Singapore Archdiocese's Commission for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People has sent a six-point petition to the Philippine government urging it to improve the welfare of Filipino domestic workers.
The letter called for regular legal and psychological counseling to all distressed domestic helpers.
Bridget Lew, commission chairperson who signed the letter, said that some domestic helpers residing at the Philippine government-owned Filipino Resource Workers' Centre have attempted suicide as a result of their distress and lack of psychological support.
