USA    PAGANS CALL FOR APOLOGY FROM CATHOLICS
A US pagan group has called on the Catholic Church to apologize for attacks on their spiritual ancestors, especially during the Inquisition, as part of apologies promised by Pope John Paul II during the Jubilee Year.
Pagans in Action: Council for Truth, a coalition of pagan groups worldwide based in Alabama, accused the Catholic Church of forcing pagans to convert, desecrating their sacred sites, and collaborating with states to persecute and execute pagans during the Inquisition which began during the 13th century.
The pagans, who describe themselves as "a global spiritual movement that draws its inspiration and traditions from indigenous pre-Christian religions," have asked to be remembered along with Protestants, Jews, and Muslims who were persecuted.
