|Philippines||PARDON OF MISSIONARY'S ASSASSIN CAUSES OUTCRY|
The Philippine Church has declared a day of protest following the pardon of the man convicted of killing an Italian missionary priest in 1985.
PIME missionary Fr Tullio Favali was murdered on the island of Mindanao.
Norberto Manero was one of 500 prisoners granted the traditional Christmas pardon by President Joseph Estrada.
The Italian missionary news agency MISNA reports there is now growing fears for the safety of fellow PIME missionary Fr Peter Geremia, and others who testified against Norberto Manero and the gang of which he is a member. It claims Manero 'has always proved to be a vindictive fanatic'.
