In spite of its weaknesses, the ministry of Peter's successor has its origins in Christ's own words, Pope John Paul II said on Tuesday during the Roman Curia's celebration of their Jubilee in the Vatican.
The Holy Father took advantage of the occasion to appeal to the men and women who work with him in the management of the key organisations of the Catholic Church, to live this event with 'a spirit of conversion', moved by an 'authentic interior purification'.
The Jubilee of the Roman Curia, which includes the Secretariat of State, 9 Congregations, 11 Pontifical Councils, 3 Tribunals, 5 Pontifical Commissions and several other organisations, such as the Prefecture of the Pontifical Household, began with a procession in which 4000 Cardinals, Archbishops, Bishops, priests, men and women religious, and lay people took part.
