|India||ONLY INDIGENOUS THEOLOGY WILL APPEASE HINDUS: SCHOLARS|
Christians in India will remain apart from Hindus unless they develop a philosophy attuned to Indian culture, some Hindu scholars said in their presentations at a Church-sponsored seminar.
Creation in time, original sin and other Christian beliefs need reinterpretation to make them intelligible to Indians, Sanskrit scholar Rajneesh Shukla told participants at the seminar in Varanasi, northern India.
The event was organized by the Indian Missionary Society's major seminary. Fr Vinod Prabhu, dean of studies of the Vishwa Jyoti Gurukul (Light of the World Seminary), explained that the seminar on the emerging concept of Hindutva (Hindu nationalism) was "an academic exercise to initiate Hindu-Christian dialogue."
